Providence Hospitals has announced Terrence P. Kessler as its new interim president and CEO as of January 1, 2015. In this role, Kessler will provide direct oversight of Providence Hospital, Providence Orthopedic Hospital, and the associated rehabilitation and physician practices. Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina awards $80,950 to Caritas grantees

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina has awarded $80,950 to 30 Caritas grantees in the last award cycle of 2014. The purpose of the Caritas Grants program is to provide support to organizations dealing with situational poverty or crisis poverty. The demand for food, clothing, shelter and free health programs, as well as other immediate needs, is expanding for organizations providing these services. Caritas Grant awards are up to $5,000 for a one-year period. [More]

Providence Hospitals receives top rating from Society of Thoracic Surgeons for 16th time in a row

The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) has awarded its highest overall rating of three stars to Providence Hospitals for the 16th time in a row. Providence has now received the highest rating for every six-month reporting period since STS began giving the recognition with 2006 data. In the latest round, only 12 to 15 percent of hospitals participating received the three-star overall rating. [More]
