St. Vincent Charity Medical Center's health literacy work, supported by Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland, highlighted in Catholic Health World

"Admitting" will make way for "Patient Check-In." Instead of "Protective Services," visitors will see "Security" on the directional placards. "Radiology" will be called "X-Ray."  It's all part of St. Vincent Charity Medical Center's ongoing effort to improve the way it communicates with patients. Healthy Learners thanks annual fund contributors

The Healthy Learners annual fund campaign, which ran from October 25 to December 31, 2010, has grossed $22,338 from 129 contributors to benefit the children served by Healthy Learners. Providence Hospitals names director of pharmacy services

Providence Hospitals, a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System, recently named David Kilgore as director of pharmacy services. Kilgore served as the hospital’s interim director of the pharmacy for four months prior. As director, David will develop an operating budget for pharmaceuticals, supplies and personnel and oversee inventory for a department that provides service to nearly 89,000 patients a year, including emergency department admissions, cardiac caths, outpatient surgeries, electrophysiology studies and more. A preceptor for the South Carolina School of Pharmacy, Kilgore previously worked for nine years as the assistant director of pharmacy services. More...

Joseph’s Home residents give back to community

In late 2010, Joseph’s Home residents, staff and alums visited the Cuyahoga Community College Culinary Arts Program’s state-of-the-art kitchens to bake cookies for an activity called “Homeless Give Back.” The baked goods were donated to children attending the Catholic Charities Community Service Early Learning Center and the Early Childhood Center of Arbor Park.
