New “Joseph’s Journey” e-newsletter issue features “ a little miracle” and more

Joseph’s Home helps homeless men heal and achieve independence, but it also impacts the lives of more than just residents. Jacob Dennis, a senior at Hawken School, spent several weeks visiting Joseph’s Home as part of a school class. He had the opportunity to entertain residents one afternoon when he brought his cello and played classical music with a former resident. Dennis detailed his experience in a paper titled “A Little Miracle.” His story and more are in the latest issue of the "Joseph’s Journey" newsletter

Mercy Cancer Center nurse awarded “Best Mixed Media” in Lilly Oncology On Canvas National Art Competition

Jane Westfall, an oncology nurse at Mercy Medical Center, recently won a national award from the Lilly Oncology On Canvas competition in the "Best Mixed Media by a Family Member, Friend or Caregiver" category. She received a $1,000 donation in her name to the cancer-charity of her choice. She chose Mercy Cancer Center. [More]

Sisters of Charity Health System President and CEO Sister Judith Ann Karam, CSA, joined other leaders from the Northeast Ohio Medicaid Expansion Coalition on January 24 for a Medicaid Expansion Assembly organized by Greater Cleveland Congregations. The Northeast Ohio Medicaid Expansion Coalition is a group of allies working together to encourage the state of Ohio to act upon the provision in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) by expanding Medicaid to persons living below 138 percent of the federal poverty level.
