Mercy Medical Center’s Mercy Service League scored a big win for Mercy Dental Services and General Practice Dental Residency Endowment at its inaugural Souper Bowl fundraising event. Held January 26 at Mercy Health Center Jackson in Massillon, the Souper Bowl attracted more than 150 guests and raised more than $6,700 for Mercy Dental Services.

According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, since October 1 last year, millions of people have enrolled in new coverage under the health care law. They’ve signed up either for private insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace or for the Medicaid program. There’s still time to enroll and have coverage as soon as March 1. All you have to do is sign up with the Health Insurance Marketplace by February 15.

Go Red for Women was created 11 years ago (six years locally) to fight heart disease in women through education and research.

SPARK celebrated its 10th anniversary in late 2013 with more than 200 supporters gathering for a birthday event at Walsh University in Canton, Ohio. SPARK (Supporting Partnerships to Assure Ready Kids) is a highly effective, parent-focused kindergarten readiness program that works collaboratively with families, schools and communities.

Tickets are $25 per person and include unlimited soup tastings, bread, dessert, cash bar and many silent auction items.

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton has awarded $109,722 over three years to the Friends of Stark Parks for the Live Well Stark County nutrition-health-fitness program. Funds will be used to support the program director for Live Well Stark County as the program continues to expand its mission of promoting policy and environmental changes that impact the health of Stark County residents.
