Mercy receives American Heart Association Mission: Lifeline Accreditation and Gold Performance Award

The accreditation program – sponsored by the American Heart Association and the Society of Chest Pain Centers – recognizes centers that meet or exceed quality of care measures for people experiencing the most severe type of heart attack, ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), in which blood flow is completely blocked to a portion of the heart. Mercy Heart Center underwent numerous on-site reviews by accreditation specialists from the Society of Chest Pain Centers. [More]

St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, other area hospitals improve care for patients in national program on hospital quality

Ten greater Cleveland hospitals, all members of Better Health Greater Cleveland, have completed their participation in an 18-month national program to improve the quality and safety of patient care. The effort is part of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Aligning Forces for Quality (AF4Q) program, a national initiative to measurably improve health care in local markets. Sisters of Charity Health System awards Caritas Nursing Scholarships in Ohio and South Carolina

The Sisters of Charity Health System has selected four nursing students as recipients of the annual Caritas Nursing Scholarships, with each scholarship in the amount of $2,500. The scholarship was established in recognition of Sr. Mary Patricia Barrett, CSA, for her role in leading the development of the Sisters of Charity Health System. The purpose of the scholarship is to enable employees of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine (CSA) sponsored entities and their family members the opportunity to become licensed nurses.   The four students receiving scholarships represent each of the three communities served by the Sisters of Charity Health System: Canton and Cleveland, Ohio, and South Carolina.   The recipients are: Kelly Ellam–Kelly works at St. John Medical Center and attends Cuyahoga Community College. She lives in Olmsted Township, Ohio. Jessica Feador–Jessica works at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center and attends the University of Akron. She lives in Richfield, Ohio. Alivia Greene–Alivia works at Mercy Medical Center and attends Walsh University. She lives in Canton, Ohio. Amerine Arnold–Amerine works at Providence Hospitals and attends Midlands Technical College. She lives in Batesburg, South Carolina.
