Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland names Erin McIntryre program officer for work with women religious

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland named Erin McIntryre a program officer for its work with Catholic women religious. As program officer, McIntyre directs the grantmaking at the foundation to support the ministries of Catholic women religious in Northeast Ohio. She also supports other programming and grantmaking efforts. Previously, McIntyre worked at the parent organization of the foundation, the Sisters of Charity Health System in the Department of Foundations, Outreach Ministries and External Affairs. She has also worked in various capacities with the city of Cleveland and Cleveland City Council. In 2010, McIntyre lived and worked in Zaragoza, El Salvador as the interim director for International Partners in Mission (IPM) in its Latin American regional office. In this role, McIntyre was responsible for managing the regional office, working with project partners in El Salvador and other Latin American and Caribbean countries, and organizing and leading immersion experiences. IPM partners with community-based organizations around the world, working across borders of faith, culture and economic circumstance to serve the needs of children, women and youth. McIntyre also spent seven years at Magnificat High School in Rocky River, Ohio, in the campus ministry department, where she planned and led relationship-based service programs, social justice initiatives, retreats and immersion experiences for students. She began her work at Magnificat by doing a year of service with the Humility of Mary Volunteer Program. The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland is a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System.

Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina Releases Research Brief: Latino Immigrant Families

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina recently released a research brief about Latino immigrant families in South Carolina. Statistics show that the Latino population in the state continues to grow significantly. The population grew from 95,076 in the 2000 census to 235,682 in the 2010 census which represents a 148% increase. The research brief addresses a broad range of issues and challenges facing the Latino population including health, education, economic hardship, family structure and legal matters. [More]

New “Joseph’s Journey” e-newsletter issue features “ a little miracle” and more

Joseph’s Home helps homeless men heal and achieve independence, but it also impacts the lives of more than just residents. Jacob Dennis, a senior at Hawken School, spent several weeks visiting Joseph’s Home as part of a school class. He had the opportunity to entertain residents one afternoon when he brought his cello and played classical music with a former resident. Dennis detailed his experience in a paper titled “A Little Miracle.” His story and more are in the latest issue of the "Joseph’s Journey" newsletter
