As part of Mercy Medical Center’s commitment to the promotion of health and physical fitness in the community, Mercy Sports Medicine will once again host the 29th annual Mercy Health Run Classic on Saturday, May 14. Foundations Celebrate 15th Anniversary

The Sisters of Charity Foundations of Canton, Cleveland and South Carolina were established in 1996 with the charge to address the root causes of poverty in the communities they serve. In 2011, the Sisters of Charity Foundations celebrate 15 years of ministry. The foundations reaffirm the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine’s commitment to the materially poor, extending the health, education and human services ministry and purpose of the congregation to more holistically serve God’s people. Collectively, the Sisters of Charity Foundations have invested more than $110 million in their communities throughout the last 15 years. St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, Project Learn to host health literacy conference

Did you know individuals with limited health literacy incur medical expenses that are as much as four times greater than patients with adequate health literacy skills? Or that nearly half of American adults have only basic or below-basic health literacy skills and have difficulty understanding and acting on health information? Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland invites you to see "Beyond the Bricks"

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland, a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System, is sponsoring a public screening of the film "Beyond the Bricks," a documentary that explores and promotes solutions to the "long running crisis in American education: the low performance and dismal graduation rates of school-age Black males." The movie will be shown the evening of Feb. 21 at Cuyahoga Community College, along with a question and answer session with the director Derek Koen and Dr. Ivory Toldson, author of the Breaking Barriers Report. On January 14, the Cleveland Medical Mart and Convention Center held a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate an important step toward becoming the first comprehensive marketplace to combine permanent showrooms, a Class-A exhibition hall and state-of-the-art conference facilities tailored to the needs of the medical marketplace. Foundation to Host Session for Nonprofits

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina will host a Tools for Thriving in Challenging Times nonprofit session on Wednesday, January 26 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the South Carolina Archives and History Center. The event is open to South Carolina nonprofits. This is the first in a series of sessions that will be offered in 2011 as the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina celebrates fifteen years in philanthropy.
