Mercy’s new MRI scanner improves patient comfort and image quality

Mercy Medical Center has announced the arrival of the GE Wide-Bore 1.5 Tesla MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scanner at its main campus. This new MRI scanner can accommodate patients up to 500 lbs., offering obese patients faster imaging with higher resolution and more detail than the typically used open MRI scanner. [More]

Providence Hospitals receives twelfth consecutive 3-star rating from Society of Thoracic Surgeons

Providence has received the “3 star” rating since the inception of the comprehensive Society of Thoracic Surgeons rating system in 2006 that allows for comparisons regarding the quality of cardiac surgery among hospitals in the United States. Mercy Medical Center’s Mercy Hospice to benefit from “An Evening with Jim Tressel” January 24

The community is invited to “An Evening with Jim Tressel” January 24 from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Lake High School, 1025 Lake Center St., Uniontown, Ohio, to benefit Mercy Hospice. Tressel is the former head football coach at The Ohio State University and currently serves as the vice president of strategic engagement at the University of Akron. He will be holding a meet and greet with dessert from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Lake High School cafeteria. A talk and discussion with Tressel will follow from 7:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in the high school’s performing arts hall. Tickets for the event are $15. To purchase tickets, visit the Seat Yourself website. All proceeds will benefit Mercy Medical Center’s Hospice program. Mercy Hospice is dedicated to helping patients with a life-limiting illness achieve the best quality of life possible while offering respite and comfort to their caregivers and loved ones. Serving adults and children with a terminal illness, Hospice gives patients the opportunity to remain at home, or in a home-like setting, with the people and things they cherish most. Mercy Medical Center names ICU nurse Ivan Miller a star performer

Mercy Medical Center named Ivan Miller, a registered nurse in the intensive care unit (ICU), its Star Performer employee for October. Mercy’s Star Performer program is the hospital’s employee recognition and rewards program. Hospital employees, volunteers and staff are nominated each month for demonstrating outstanding performance, being a team player, going “above and beyond”, being creative and innovative and championing service excellence. Miller was nominated by grateful visitors for the compassion and concern he shows everyone he meets. He always gives of himself to patients as well as their loved ones. Miller has been an employee at Mercy Medical Center since 2009 and was presented his award by Mercy President and CEO Thomas E. Cecconi, Administrative Director of Critical Care Services Jason Pirtz and Human Resources Manager Charity Davis. Mercy Medical Center is a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System.
