Sister Judith Ann Karam, CSA honored with Health Legacy of Cleveland Award of Excellence

Sister Judith Ann Karam, CSA, congregational leader for the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine, received the Health Legacy Award for Excellence October 11 at the 2015 Health Legacy of Cleveland award and scholarship dinner. Every other year, Health Legacy of Cleveland hosts the dinner to present the award and name individuals to its health equity honor roll. The event also raises funds to provide scholarships and purposeful public programming aimed at inspiring African-American Cleveland area students to become physicians and dentists through education. Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland helps advance plan to prevent and end youth homelessness in Cuyahoga County

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland is committed to ending homelessness, and has recently focused on the issue of youth homelessness through a collaborative effort. Cuyahoga County’s A Place 4 Me initiative is a partnership of the YWCA of Greater Cleveland, Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County Division of Children and Family Services, FrontLine Service and the Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative. Throughout a 10-month period in 2014 and 2015, the partners of A Place 4 Me engaged nearly 70 individuals from 30 partner agencies to create a strategic plan to prevent and end youth homelessness in Cuyahoga County. Nation’s first county-level Pay for Success program aims to reconnect foster children with caregivers in stable, affordable housing

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland joined many partners on December 4 in announcing the nation’s first county-level Pay for Success program. Announced during a conference in Chicago hosted by the White House’s Office of Social Innovation and Civic Participation, the program – known as the Partnering for Family Success Program—aims to reconnect foster children in Cuyahoga County with caregivers in stable, affordable housing. This innovative program will deliver intensive 12-15 month treatment to 135 families over five years to reduce the length of stay in out-of-home foster care placement for children whose families are homeless.
