Regina Health Center (RHC) welcomed its first residents in May 1993, but the seeds of meeting unmet community needs were planted more than 166 years earlier when the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine (CSA) came to Cleveland from France in 1851 to begin Catholic health care. Twenty-five years after opening its doors, RHC is still thriving.

Mark Cotleur has joined the Sisters of Charity Health System as senior vice president for fund development. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing fundraising on behalf of St. Vincent Charity Medical Center in Cleveland, Mercy Medical Center in Canton, Regina Health Center in Richfield, Light of Hearts Villa in Bedford, and six outreach ministries in Ohio and South Carolina.

The Richfield Chamber of Commerce named Regina Health Center the Richfield Business of the Year at its recent annual banquet and meeting. The chamber cited the ministry for demonstrating success, being recognized in the health care industry regionally and nationally, being a good citizen in the community, and for making an economic impact on Richfield and the region.

Regina Health Center scored in the top 1 percent of all Ohio nursing homes in the recently released Ohio Department of Aging family satisfaction survey. With a score of 93.2 out of 100, Regina Health Center placed fifth statewide among 541 nursing homes for which data were available. Regina Health Center, located in Richfield, was the highest scoring nursing home in Northeast Ohio in this survey.

Cleveland and Northeast Ohio medical and community leaders recently gathered at the Global Center for Health Innovation to welcome Thomas J. Strauss as president & CEO of the Sisters of Charity Health System. More than 300 community and industry leaders gathered for the event, which featured a keynote from Tom, as well as remarks from Sister Judith Ann Karam CSA, congregational leader of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine; Robert Spangler M.D., board chair of the Sisters of Charity Health System; and Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish.

Regina Health Center hits the tees and greens at Firestone Country Club in Akron Monday, June 13 for the 17th annual Holy-In-One Golf Outing. More than 200 golfers are expected for a day of golf, lunch, evening cocktail reception and dinner, prizes, and a live auction.
