St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, Cleveland Clinic, MetroHealth, United Way and CareSource team up to advance Accountable Health Communities model

St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, Cleveland Clinic, MetroHealth, United Way and CareSource, are teaming up to apply for a federal $4.5 million grant to advance the patient-centered Accountable Health Communities model, which addresses gaps between clinical care and community services. With their grant application due in May, partner MetroHealth is working to pilot systems to better integrate the United Way 2-1-1 Help Center to connect patients with social services. Sisters of Charity Health System mourns passing of Congressman Louis Stokes

The Sisters of Charity Health System is deeply saddened by the passing of former Congressman Louis Stokes on August 18 at the age of 90. We extend our sympathies to the Stokes family and the many lives touched by the Congressman. During his storied career, Congressman Stokes was a staunch advocate for social and economic justice, education, health care and other causes that impacted the lives of many. Both on a national level and around Cleveland, he was a transformational leader who helped create needed and enduring social change. Affordable Care Act enrollment to reopen March 15

The Obama administration is providing additional time to uninsured U.S. citizens to sign up for the Affordable Care Act to avoid a new tax penalty for not having insurance. The special six-week enrollment period will run from March 15 to April 30. [More]

Sister of Charity Health System and MetroHealth remind Clevelanders about deadline for Health Insurance Marketplace

Today, volunteers the Sister of Charity Health System visited lunch-time crowds at the historic Westside Market in Cleveland, Ohio, to help make sure people know about affordable health coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace. The outreach effort was a last-minute push to raise awareness about the March 31 open enrollment deadline for coverage starting in 2014 through the Health Insurance Marketplace. At the Westside Market, the Sisters of Charity Health System volunteers were joined by friends from the MetroHealth System in handing out free bottles of water wrapped with information driving people to HealthCare.gov. Sisters of Charity Health System promotes four executives

The Sisters of Charity Health System has promoted four leaders in various departments within the health system, which oversees five Catholic hospitals, three grantmaking foundations, two elder care facilities and six outreach organizations in Ohio and South Carolina. Joseph Purton has been named vice president, controller; Robin J. Bachman has been named vice president of government affairs and public policy; James Assenmacher has been named vice president of strategy and business development; and Andrew Motz has been named vice president, chief procurement officer. Sign up with the Health Insurance Marketplace by February 15 have coverage March 1

According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, since October 1 last year, millions of people have enrolled in new coverage under the health care law. They’ve signed up either for private insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace or for the Medicaid program. There’s still time to enroll and have coverage as soon as March 1. All you have to do is sign up with the Health Insurance Marketplace by February 15. [More]
