South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families receives $7,500 from Touchdowns for Fatherhood program

The South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families received a check for $7,500 from TD Bank during halftime of a University of South Carolina basketball game in February. Lent is a time for us to think seriously about who Jesus is and to renew our faith. We go deep inside, into the very depth of our souls, in order to begin our spiritual life all over again. Health System Leaders Continue Call to Extend Medicaid

Through the Affordable Care Act, states may expand Medicaid coverage to persons up to 138 percent of the federal poverty level. Increasing access to Medicaid will give 450,000 to 600,000 uninsured Ohioans and approximately 250,000 uninsured South Carolinians the dignity of health insurance. The debate is in the state legislatures. Voices are needed now to encourage extension of Medicaid coverage. [More]

Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina Releases Research Brief: Latino Immigrant Families

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina recently released a research brief about Latino immigrant families in South Carolina. Statistics show that the Latino population in the state continues to grow significantly. The population grew from 95,076 in the 2000 census to 235,682 in the 2010 census which represents a 148% increase. The research brief addresses a broad range of issues and challenges facing the Latino population including health, education, economic hardship, family structure and legal matters. [More]
