Sister of Charity Health System and MetroHealth remind Clevelanders about deadline for Health Insurance Marketplace

Today, volunteers the Sister of Charity Health System visited lunch-time crowds at the historic Westside Market in Cleveland, Ohio, to help make sure people know about affordable health coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace. The outreach effort was a last-minute push to raise awareness about the March 31 open enrollment deadline for coverage starting in 2014 through the Health Insurance Marketplace. At the Westside Market, the Sisters of Charity Health System volunteers were joined by friends from the MetroHealth System in handing out free bottles of water wrapped with information driving people to HealthCare.gov. Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton helps give kids a smile

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton helped promote the recent Give Kids a Smile Day at five Canton City elementary schools, with foundation Care Coordinator Danielle Bunner dressing as the tooth fairy to spread the word about good oral health. She asked students to pledge to brush their teeth for two minutes twice a day, and handed out “two-minute pledge” kits containing oral health supplies and books. [More]

CMSD, Promise Neighborhood and others partner to increase preschool enrollment

The Cleveland Metropolitan School District announced plans at a March 11 press conference at Cleveland Central Promise Neighborhood school Marion-Sterling Elementary to increase investments in early learning. The plan, known as PreK4CLE, has a goal to place 2,000 more 4-year-olds into quality preschool in Cleveland within the next two years, up from 1,200 today. [More]

St. Vincent Charity Medical Center provides free foot care at Homeless Stand Down

Medical residents and their directors from the podiatry department at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center volunteered their time and expertise at the 2014 Homeless Stand Down event in January in Cleveland. The caregivers provided foot and ankle screenings for more than 115 patients at the event. [More]
