Congratulations to Dr. Mike Canales and Olympic gold-medal winning gymnast Dominique Moceanu on the birth of their new son Vincent Michael!
Dr. Canales, surgeon for The Spine and Orthopedic Institute of St. Vincent Charity Hospital, and wife Dominique Moceanu welcomed their 8 pounds, 9 ounces baby on March 13, 2009. Vincent Michael and the proud parents of two were featured in the August issue of People magazine.

Providence Hospitals recently presented employee Ruth Nichols with the hospitals' most prestigious honor, the Servant Award. Established in 2005, the Servant Award recognizes a Providence employee for outstanding, consistent service demonstrating the mission and core values of the hospitals: courage, collaboration, respect, justice and compassion. The award also defines a servant as someone possessing character traits such as selflessness and forgiveness.

Canton, Ohio: Mercy Medical Center recently earned the ENERGY STAR designation--the national mark of excellence in energy performance--from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy's joint program. Mercy is one of only two hospitals in Ohio and 87 nationwide to be awarded this distinction.

Canton, Ohio: Mercy Medical Center Boutique, in partnership with Stark County Board of MRDD and The Workshops Inc. (TWI), now offers a line of handcrafted gift items made by local TWI artists. This partnership is the first of its kind between a local gift shop and TWI, which employs individuals age 22 and older with developmental disabilities.
